Utopia Con 2017: Book Haul & Panels ^_^

GUYS! I got shiny pictures! ^_^ First we have a gorgeous couple of pictures from my hotel window. This is outside the Airport Marriott in Nashville. Pretty Tennessee trees. 😀 Next up is a shiny UTOPIA Con bag. Came with a free novella and a fan that plugs into smart phones. ^_^ I somehow miraculously made it in time for the keynote, but it was super short, so sad to say, I barely remember anything. Plus I missed a bit of it because I had to pee and they started a little early. This next picture is some greenery I ran into across from the hotel entrance. I took notes…

“Find Your Teeth and Bite”: 2016 Conference Highlights

Welcome to highlights from the Fourth Annual Fall Creative Writing Conference, sponsored by MTSU Write. This year, the conference, held the second Saturday of September, was under new management and we got BAGS!! And a mug. Very exciting. 😊 In addition to that, I got to take home the gorgeous bouquet of sunflowers and other gorgeous foliage on my table! But that wasn’t the only thing that changed this year. Previously, poetry, non-fiction, and fiction sessions were all lumped together in the same room – one after the other. I liked this because it was nice to get a little bit of everything. However, this year they did longer breakout sessions instead. All…

Get Yer Writer’s Fuel: Conference Highlights

Have you ever been to writing conference and came back all pumped up to write? Hopefully, if you’ve been to a conference, you have! And that’s exactly how I felt after this year’s Third Annual Creative Writer’s Conference of Middle Tennessee! After the first conference, I came back to writing all pumped up and ready to keep writing after what I saw as several hard failures – aka, several times of falling hard on my butt. After last year’s conference, I was in the middle of feeling good about myself (ha,ha), so I came back feeling like the world was my oyster, and I was a shiny special pearl. 😛…

That Time I Talked To A Gnat

When is the last time you spoke to nature? Out loud? The last time I talked to something in nature was a couple of weeks ago. It was to a gnat flying around my computer. I apologized, and then I smashed it to guts with my bare hands. Yes, I am a gnat-catcher. And no, gnat guts do not bother me. But smushed gnats is not the topic of today’s wonderful, awesome post. No, on September 20th, I attended the Second Annual Creative Writer’s Conference of Middle Tennessee held at MTSU by the resident non-degree writing program MTSU Write, formerly (and I think betterly) known as The Loft. This is…

The Panels of UtopYA Con 2014

The first one I went to was Expand Your Universe: A How-to Workshop for Newbies & Introverts #ExpandYourClump. Out of everyone in the room, guess who gets singled out? Yeah. Me. I’m terrified of people, y’all, but it’s cool. Lol! They offered some helpful tips on things to say when you meet an author you like besides the typical: smile, nod, and tell them you like their book. Which is exactly what I did with the first author of a book I’d already read. Lol! They offered things like: What are you working on now? Where are you from? Is this your first time here? Things like that. I really, really…
