    In-Depth “Failure” Analysis

The latest edition to the Story Graveyard is indeed my 2019 NaNoWriMo project, also known as my third and final attempt at rewriting “The Puppet Box.” I said I would try “one more time.” I did. I’ve already mentioned that I’m doing nothing with it because I don’t want to do anything with it, but I want to talk a bit about why I think it fell on its face. Learn from the experience. ^_^ Reason One: I couldn’t figure out what MC Riley wanted past her surface wants, which made motivating her to do anything extremely difficult, because what she wanted was for things to stay the same. That’s…

    Current Project Writing Update

Guys, I tried to change projects again. Hear me out! Lol! Basically what happened is that I was just having a hard time. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, the problem isn’t that I sit down to write and can’t get any words to come. The problem is that I don’t sit down to write in the first place. The whole reason I’m having to rewrite this story in first place is because I got scared and wrecked last time. So imagine my surprise when I sit down to rewrite it and I’m scared again. Who knew I’d have to deal with some of the same issues I faced…

    NaNoWriMo Talk

Is anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? National Novel Writing Month comes with a lot of excitement and pep talks and activities, and it makes for great writing fuel, but I haven’t gotten the timing right in years. Before I get into that, though, quick writing update since it’s kind of relevant, I’m still working on the same story I was working on last time I talked about writing. The working title is still “Winter” and it just so happens to be a rewrite of the story I wrote for NaNo 2013. I’ve only done NaNo proper a handful of times. I signed up in 2011 and somehow forgot to participate.…

    Green-Eyed Writing Monster

Without getting into too much detail, for brevity’s sake, I recently read a couple of things that had me wanting to quit writing. In full disclosure, I am totally fine. But I had a moment, so let’s talk about it. ^_^ So, I was reading, and I suddenly started thinking: Gah, why is everyone better than me? Like any sane person, I talk to myself. And Me and I had a conversation about why I was in danger of falling into a ditch, and I had to ask myself if part of the reason could be because I was jealous. I wasn’t jealous of anything that’s particularly difficult to do.…

Settling On A New Project, Part Three

Haha. 😀 Before I get into that though, I has a poetry book cover!! Reveal is next week!! ^_^ Okay. Last year, I quite dramatically on exactly two occasions (officially) ranted about how hard it was for me to settle on a project. Quick Overview: I tried using a couple of different apps to randomly pick an idea for me. I drew random ideas out of a pile. I asked multiple people for help narrowing things down or to choose for me. Ultimately, I ended up not writing at all or even trying for several months because I was just plum exhausted. Speaking of plums, does anyone know when they’re…
