Excuse Factories and Other Writerly Nuances

Around four years ago, I was going to buddy-read a book on fiction writing. I haven’t read a craft book in several years. I still haven’t finished it because said buddy quit on it, and since I was only reading it to be supportive, I lost the will to continue, because frankly, le book was getting on my nerves. It’s not a bad book. I just wasn’t in the mood to wade through the basic waters. It’s also wicked repetitive. But anyway, I was thinking about this thing he said about the length of time it takes to write a book. He said there’s a difference between the writer who…

    April Reading & Writing Update

Updates Time!! 😀  I had another sad reading month. Lol! Four books read and I didn’t really like any of them. >.< 23: Fierce Fairytales: Poems and Stories To Stir Your Soul Author: Nikita Gill Genre: Poetry Rating: 3 stars Reviewed: No I’m suspecting she’s just not the poet for me. I’m not a fan of this free-form word-vomit style at all, and I can’t stop feeling like her poetry is a little shallow – like she doesn’t really believe what she’s saying but really wants to. Once Upon An Actual Writing Update

So…it’s true. I’ve been writing. pause for cheers and applause and bouquets of flowers being thrown onto the stage. If you’ve noticed the side bar, or the footer bar if you’re on mobile, then you might have seen that I’m working on two projects. Well, three projects counting the poetry book. I’m actually juggling projects right now, so let’s talk about that! 😀 So far, I’m not really having any problems. I started out with a bit of a time problem, but the solution to that was to get up earlier and get some stuff off my plate in the a.m. I tend to work on one for a bit…

    #WriterWoes

In lieu of a publishing update, since I don’t have anything new to say, I’m going to do a general writing update, because I have some stuff to say! Okay, so, don’t congratulate me, but I finished a draft of “The Puppet Box” on the 18th. I’ve moved the project to “On Hold,” which means I’m thinking seriously of trashing it. I’m not happy. I have theories. Like, I couldn’t sleep while I was writing this. I have chronic on and off insomnia, but it got quite ridiculous. A few things helped, but ultimately, nothing can override a restless brain. As soon as I set the story aside, I started…

    Official Publishing News & Stuff

‌Hey, hey! Firstly, I’m over at Crystal Collier’s today for the Truth & Lie Game! Hop over and laugh at how many times I’ve gotten lost. ^_^ Next up: Announcement Time: “Winter’s Siren” has an official release date and an official blurb! More on that later. I first want to talk a little bit about confidence and gut checking. ^_^ When I made the decision to publish NO REST FOR THE WICKED, the original plan was to wait for my beta to tell me it wasn’t trash and THEN make a decision. But it was like, I either think that thing is good or I don’t. The notes should only serve…
