Not Finishing Stuff I Read Or Whatever

Hi. 🙂 I don’t remember when, but I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about reading deal-breakers over the years. Like, I personally take issue with bad writing, but I hardly ever run into writing so bad I can’t read a book with an interesting story anyway. I also don’t like unnecessary love triangles and pop culture references. And I’ve DnFed books with stupid, brainless protagonists and other random offences. But you can nitpick like that when everything else is in place, you know. There are a lot of problems books can have, not limited to but including: pacing issues, characterization issues for main and/or side characters, mechanical and technical issues like…

    Late Autumn Rambling

A few weeks ago, I woke up to an email from a non-fiction author about how he gets lazy this year (#same), and that to counteract this, he was going to add a long list of things to accomplish by the end of the year, in addition to whatever else he has to do. At first, I was like, “This is a great idea!” And it would be a great idea in ordinary circumstances. But while I was sitting there thinking about things to add to my own productivity list, I started to feel stressed. I could 100% probably finish another book by the end of the year. Thing is:…

    Writing & Stuff

GUYS! ^_^ The writing struggle was real this past month. Here are some things I wish I could remember between projects: How intimidated I am by the blank page. How hard it is to settle on the next project. How often I decide on a project only to change my mind a week later. The fact that I sometimes freak out and stress out and flail around to the point where I feel crazy. The fact that I might want to quit writing because it feels hard and impossible and I don’t know how I ever got a story out at all ever. Like, I wish I knew what I…

    Random Writer Stuff

The Top Secret Trilogy is a Top Secret Duology again. Ha… So, I got confused. In my defense, I’ve never committed to writing a duology or trilogy or quadrilogy before. It was always, “we’ll see.” And well, I saw and the answer was no. The confusion with this project happened because book one is in two parts. It’s not like I’ve never written a two-parter before, it’s just been a long-ass time, and you know, I forgot what that looks like. After the first climax, I naturally assumed that was it. I didn’t know there was more! In my head, book two, now part two, always felt incomplete on it’s…

    Distraction Track

You know those creepy girls in Lifetime movies that stalk a guy they slept with once and then kill him? That’s me. Minus, the stalking and slaying and sleeping around. It just so happens, that every so often, I get super fixated on things. And lately, it appears that I’ve gotten quite obsessive about some things that I have never cared about in my life. I’m not talking about the time I spent an hour picking out brown eye shadow at Ulta? I left with 7 shades of the same freaking color! But I have a long history with brown eye shadow. 😀 No, I’m talking about stuff I really…
