Release Day Party: Garden of Ravens

Poetry book is out today!! 😀 To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to go over the different sections and talk about them or whatever. ^_^ I organized things in a way that I thought would make sense or at least a way that made sense in my head. If you’ve been around the cafe for a while or have read any of my books, you might recognize a few poems, as everything that’s published on this blog or in a novel are also in this book. That might account for maybe ten poems, but they’re here. I’ve mentioned that I write song lyrics for fun sometimes, so some…

Cover Reveal: Garden of Ravens Edition

Still getting things together, but the cover is done and I didn’t want to wait to spread it around! ^_^ When it came time to get a cover together for my first poetry collection, I knew what I wanted in theory. But poetry books aren’t often very elaborate. They’re mostly simple with a lot of negative space. It probably goes without saying, but a typical cover wasn’t going to work for me. Luckily, I have a designer who knows what she’s doing, and she was able to talk me into a happy medium between something plainer and something that would grace the cover of a paranormal book. ^_^ I wanted…

    Unofficial Poetry Styles

Disclaimer: 😀 I took one poetry class in college, for half a semester, and received a B, points off for being difficult, like when I argued that all haikus didn’t have to literally be about nature. I stand behind everything 19-year-old me said. I’m not a poetry expert, but it’s fun to talk about stuff, so this is my understanding of poetry and the verbiage I use to describe different aspects of it. 🙂 Style 1 – Formed/Traditional Things don’t have to be uniform, but formed poems have a clear pattern, sometimes rhyme, and usually make some kind of sense without having to try too hard. Here you have your…

    Once Upon A Writing Update

What? A writing update? Are you in the right place? 😛 Before you get excited – haha – I’m not actually writing. I’m just dabbling and brainstorming and wanting to write…on a good day. And thankfully, I find myself, on that good day, wanting to write my Pinewood Falls story. So no project changes! All this reading I’ve been doing is filling my head with story love, and it’s helping me remember again why I love writing. Because I love stories. It’s interesting how I can read something and be equal parts jealous and inspired. Sure, I can nitpick over people’s writing sometimes. As a grammar snob, I don’t understand…

    Poetry and Such

GUYS! 😀 I has news! …kinda, sorta, whatever, dontlookatme. >.< So, you may or may not know that around two and a half years ago I had half a mind to publish a book of poems. I never set a deadline for this project, and it was quite easy to push aside, but I did expect to publish it one day. And well…I’m crazy close to my goal. As of this posting, I have the 100 or so poems I wanted, and I don’t know if they’ll all make the final cut, but I’m trying not to be paranoid about it. If I cut something, I want it to be because…
