    Random Thoughts & Blog Changes

Hi there! It’s me. ^_^ So, first on the agenda: Starting in February, because I had too much to say this month, apparently, I’ll be updating the blog less frequently. Likely every other week, but sometimes there’ll be an update two weeks in a row because of reading updates that happen at the very end or top of every month. I know. You’re so heartbroken. Actually, I know it’s totally fine, but I want to bring it up anyway. I’m doing this for only one reason, and it’s because I associate this blog with writing. Since I’m not writing very much, I honestly don’t know what to say. And between…

Release Day Party: Garden of Ravens

Poetry book is out today!! 😀 To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to go over the different sections and talk about them or whatever. ^_^ I organized things in a way that I thought would make sense or at least a way that made sense in my head. If you’ve been around the cafe for a while or have read any of my books, you might recognize a few poems, as everything that’s published on this blog or in a novel are also in this book. That might account for maybe ten poems, but they’re here. I’ve mentioned that I write song lyrics for fun sometimes, so some…

    Release Day Party: Whisper!

To celebrate the release of my third book baby 😀 I decided to make a list of some things I made notes for that never made it into the book. 😀 One: Wallace Enterprises I had planned a rivalry between Wallace Enterprises and Xacharias Corp from the start. It was always a side plot, but it was one that stressed Jade’s father out a whole lot and was the source of some of his snippiness. When I actually got into the story, though, he was snippy for an entirely different reason, and Wallace Enterprises only gets a tiny, tiny mention in a scene where Jade is describing something she saw…

    Overdue Celebration

It’s Thanksgiving week for the US. I was going to post a story, to flex my flash fiction muscles, but I didn’t feel like it, so I’m doing this instead. I have officially completed some 22 stories of varying lengths that I consider or considered at one point to be a novel. After reading Rhett & Link’s Book of Mythicality (they’re my favorite YouTubers, they wrote a book), I’ve come to realize that I haven’t celebrated 22 times. When I finished my first novel, I was so excited. But this first novel, while hilarious now, was truly awful. I actually get a little annoyed when people say things like, “Oh,…

Writing Multiple Point of Views + Winter’s Siren Release Day!

Given how WINTER’S SIREN (out today!!) has two POVs, I’ve been thinking about how dual POV stories differ from single and other multiple POV stories. In 2011, I was working on a story that had four POVs and for some reason I thought a fifth POV was a good idea for two scenes. Ugh. Old me. HAHA. Anywho, two of the POVs took place in the past – everything was supposed to connect later in book two (again, ugh, old me!) – but I ended every one of those past POVs on a cliffhanger. Namely because I was breaking a complete story up into pieces. It would have been much…
