Release Day Party: No Rest for the Wicked!

YAY! Book is here! To celebrate, I’m interviewing main character Tatum, her cousin Gretchen, and Emmerick, the drifter who lives in their basement. ^_^ Me: So excited! How are you guys? Tatum: Oh, great. You know. You’re just airing my dirty undies for the world to see. Gretchen: (laughs) I think she made me look pretty good. Emmerick: Let’s not forget who’s actual dirty laundry is on display. Me: That didn’t answer the question, but okay? So tell me, what’s you’re favorite part of this story? Tatum: The end. Gretchen: (laughs) I also like the end but for a completely different reason than you, I’m sure. Emmerick: My favorite was watching…

The DIY Publishing Diary: Volume Four – The Basics

Here are some things I’ve learned over the past few months: How to find a Cover Designer Cue mini rant – Never under any circumstances should anyone put their book out into the world without a cover. I read a story on the Absolute Write forum by someone who actually put her book up on Amazon without a cover on it!! Someone felt sorry for the poor girl and made a cheapo, but pretty, abstract cover for her to slap on there, but REALLY?! End PSA. There is always Google, but I found it more helpful to do three things: 1) Ask your writing friends who have published a book where…

    Author Interview: Michelle Athy!

Today I’m excited to interview the awesome Michelle Athy and talk a little bit about her recently self-published Historical Fiction Novella PEARL. First, gorgeous cover!! Blurb: Time to a slave only means endless work, but for Pearl, the last ten years have meant time without her younger brother Julius. He was sold away from Barbados, a little island of sugar cane and slavery, but Pearl is still there, the lady’s maid to Mrs. Keegan. After Mrs. Keegan dies, rumor has it that Mr. Keegan may return to his native England with his two children, which means Pearl will be sold for sure. Surprising herself, Pearl asks Mr. Keegan if he…

Author Interview: Crystal Collier! + Giveaway!

Happy Book Birthday to Crystal Collier’s SOULLESS, which released Monday, October 13th, 2014!! To celebrate, today I’m interviewing the architect behind the series herself! Hey, Crystal! I’m so excited about this interview! Thanks so much for your time. ^_^ CC: Yay! Thank you so much for having me, Krystal. Have some cheese, eh? In fact, cheese for everyone. On me. (Ahem, the virtual kind—I can afford that.) Thank you! So! Writers are sometimes inspired by the craziest, most unrelated things. Where did the inspiration for this series come from?  CC: 1 part dream, 1 part kids’ imagination. Truth, portions of this series were in the works when I was 13. (Honest…

    My Work Space

I meant to do this post a while ago, but I had to clean up said work space. ahem Lol! I got the questions for this post from Jodie Llewellyn’s Blog, who got the idea from The YA League. Fun, fun. ^_^ Writing Habits  1. Typed or Handwritten? I write bits and pieces of stuff by hand when I’m away from the computer, and I do all my planning and story boarding by hand, but when it comes to drafting it’s typing all the way. You put a kink in your neck typing from a notebook too many times, and you will never want to do it again. 2. Cursive…
