    Writing A Retelling

Once upon a time, back in 2012, I ran into a HUGE wall. I had idea after idea falling on its face. I didn’t know then that it takes me several months to bake an idea. I had only been writing again for a year after a two year hiatus, and before that hiatus, I had a four year college-related hiatus. So…I had a lot of things to learn about myself as a writer. Back then, I thought if an idea wasn’t gelling, it was a bad idea and needed to be trashed. Now I know things just need to bake. Among those many ideas that melted and died were…

Stories Are Red, Stories Are Blue…

Also known as the melodramatic journey to deciding what project to work on next. 😛 It all started last summer. Lol! I was working on WHISPER (whispers: coming out in 2.5 weeks), and in true me fashion, I was like, “must pick next project NOW,” you know, to keep the insane momentum going that wasn’t at all sustainable. I tentatively picked something. Let’s call that Project A. In true me fashion, over the following months, I worried myself to the point where I decided to work on something else. Let’s call that Project B. A couple of months later, I wasn’t feeling any kind of confident about Project B. I…

Cover Reveal: Ballad of the Beanstalk (Amy McNulty)

Today, author Amy McNulty is revealing the cover for her latest novel, Ballad of the Beanstalk, a YA romantic fantasy fairy tale prequel. I have such a soft spot for fairy tales! Cover created by Makeready Designs. BLURB: As her fingers move across the strings of her family’s heirloom harp, sixteen-year-old Clarion can forget. She doesn’t dwell on the recent passing of her beloved father or the fact that her mother has just sold everything they owned, including that very same instrument that gives Clarion life. She doesn’t think about how her friends treat her like a feeble, brittle thing to be protected. She doesn’t worry about how to tell the elegant…

    Once Upon A Story…

So, I’m working on a top secret project entitled: “Once There Was Chaos” – not the actual working title, but I really kind of like it! The real working title is a secret known only to the inner circle. Yup, I’m being THAT crazy about it. Because if I tell you my actual working title, you might be able to read between the lines and figure out what I’m doing!! Lol! In any case, I can say this: I’m finally doing a retelling, after trying and falling on my face for at least three years now, probably three and a half. I probably talked about it before, but once upon a…

    Fancy Book Haul

Thanks to my awesome parents gifting me with mooney (misspelled on purpose) this past holiday season, I finally got to picked up all these freaking awesome books over the last few weeks. Books I have been wanting for like, SO long. hugs giant pile of books Granted I already have a Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales AND a Complete Hans Christen Anderson, but I swear there are stories in these anthologies I have not read before. But even if I had, I wanted the new covers. They look so good, and will look even better on my new entertainment center when I get one day in the probably kind of distant…
