Cover Reveal: House of Falling Embers Edition

GUYS!! ^_^ It’s cover reveal day!! Every cover experience is different. With my first and third books, I knew exactly what I wanted. With my second book, I had a few clear ideas to bounce off my cover designer. But this time, I had no idea. I Googled something along the lines of “book covers with trees” and then after a few minutes, I gave up and drew up some concepts and then didn’t even go with any of them either. Ha. Usually when I get my mock up covers, we’re pretty much done except for a large or small amount of nitpicking. But this time, I had a giant…

    Once There Was An Excerpt

🙂 The editing process is officially underway for HOUSE OF FALLING EMBERS, and I have an official release date: October 1, 2018! I can’t share a blurb yet. Blurb is not written. It’ll come with the cover though. Cover reveal to happen first of September. I normally have a blurb done by now, but I do have a plot summary of sorts in my notes somewhere. I’m not too far into editing, but getting the ball rolling is the absolute hardest part for me. Only gets more fun from here! And I love the story so far. 😛 I’m on the parts that make me laugh now, but I cried…

    Cover Reveal: Winter’s Siren!

GUYS! LOL! First off, can I get some kudos on that banner? 😛 So, before I get to the cover, I wanted to chat a tiny bit about the process. 😀 With my last novel, I had one concept idea. Of course, I thought of one or two other things, but I didn’t like any of the mental images better than the one I went with. This time, I had several ideas! Well, I had four. 🙂 I gave my cover designer three, and she came back with the two she thought would be the most striking. What you’ll see below is concept number one. It’s the second concept I…

First Lines & Opening Sentences: Anniversary Edition

You’re in for a treat today! In celebration of the month I finished my first ever novel project – 21 years ago – I’m embarrassing the crap out of myself by pulling out the opening sentences of some old projects and displaying them for your enjoyment, because we all need a good laugh sometimes. 😀 Note: Unless otherwise stated, the stories have a contemporary/modern-day or near-future setting. If the story is finished, I’ll put the date, otherwise it’ll just be marked as abandoned. 😅 Untitled First Novel (romance?) – circa 1997 “Beep! Beep! Beep!” I turned off my alarm clock and opened my eyes. I looked around my room. Analysis…

    A Cup of Excerpt Tea

Excerpt day!! ^_^ I don’t post excerpts too often, but I’m really excited about what I’m working on and want to share. Little background information: “Winter’s Siren” – is a dark magical realism retelling told in two point-of-views. This scene is from Devi’s. She’s been sheltered to the extreme. The setting is in the middle of nowhere Colorado, near-future modern day, in the middle of winter. They’re in a very isolated opera house nestled in the mountains, several miles from civilization. In the story, each opera they put on is sponsored by a benefactor. Little information about this particular scene: Andrew is working there as the groundskeeper. Devi has recently…
