Get Yer Writer’s Fuel: Conference Highlights

Have you ever been to writing conference and came back all pumped up to write? Hopefully, if you’ve been to a conference, you have! And that’s exactly how I felt after this year’s Third Annual Creative Writer’s Conference of Middle Tennessee! After the first conference, I came back to writing all pumped up and ready to keep writing after what I saw as several hard failures – aka, several times of falling hard on my butt. After last year’s conference, I was in the middle of feeling good about myself (ha,ha), so I came back feeling like the world was my oyster, and I was a shiny special pearl. 😛…

So This One Time, I Watched A Movie Or Whatever…

So, about a year ago, I watched all 5 Twilight movies in two days. Anyone who knows me can tell you I almost had a nervous breakdown over this series. As a longtime writer of vampire stories, I was…offended. I was angry. I was jealous. It made me feel like I couldn’t write about vampires anymore. Not if I wanted to be published. A Stroll Through Editing Park & Gone Girl Thoughts

A couple of weeks ago I found a screenshot on my computer that I took of an earlier version of DISCORD and found TWO typos right off the bat! They weren’t in the draft I sent out, but really?!! Anyway, folks, there are a LOT of different ways to edit out there. I’ve seen people cut out tiny strips of paper and spread them out all over their room! I’ve seen people paste index cards all over their desk.…

    Fancy Book Haul

Thanks to my awesome parents gifting me with mooney (misspelled on purpose) this past holiday season, I finally got to picked up all these freaking awesome books over the last few weeks. Books I have been wanting for like, SO long. hugs giant pile of books Granted I already have a Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales AND a Complete Hans Christen Anderson, but I swear there are stories in these anthologies I have not read before. But even if I had, I wanted the new covers. They look so good, and will look even better on my new entertainment center when I get one day in the probably kind of distant…

    Limbo, Limbo, Limbo

I’ll be honest. I love editing! And you know why? Because I’m done with the story, that’s why! ^_^ For me, drafting the story is like an apartment on moving day. Everything is all a mess. There’s crap all over the floor. The walls are bare. So I love unpacking and putting up all my stuff, because it makes the place feel like home, you know. I hate messes and boxes, so it’s my mission to get them broken down and out of my new place as soon as possible. Which is why I edit as I go. Sure it slows me down some, but at the end of the day,…
