    On To The Next One

My writing journey has been a lot like this picture here. I see the light at the end of tunnel, but is it 1 mile away? 10 miles? 100 feet? Perhaps it’s just an illusion, a break in the trees, and it doesn’t actually end at all. So, I rewrote Chains of Destiny. The biggest part of the rewrite was changing it from a portal fantasy (something I love) to a high concept one (which is foreign to me). Ultimately, portal fantasy wasn’t the right path to go with this. The story turned out better this way, but I found myself in a rather awkward situation. I was so focused…

    Chains of Destiny

Confession: I queried this story again. Next week I’ll talk more about why and what’s happening. But today I want to highlight novel number 13 Chains of Destiny, before it joins Stone of Darkness on my shelf of completed novels as only the second novel ever to avoid the dreaded story drafts folder, also known as, the story graveyard, where crap goes to die.It took me 4 months to write the first draft. I realize that’s not turtle speed, especially considering I started over from scratch halfway through. But I usually finish stuff in about 8 weeks, 10 if I waste time freaking out about it, which is most times.…

    A Story Worth Fighting For…

This isn’t like me to fight so hard to get a story to work. I have more ideas than I can handle and two other projects I’m working on that I love, and here I am fighting for Chains of Destiny like my sanity depends on it. I’ve already rewritten parts of this story. Last time, however, I was only halfway through. This time I’m finished and along with a second overhaul of my MC’s POV, there are major plot changes as well. I’ll be honest. I don’t want to do this. I’m afraid it’s a waste of time when I could be writing something else. Also, I don’t do…

    New Project & Novel Trackers!

I found this awesome, awesome novel tracker thingie here. It’s a completely customizable 30 day spreadsheet so you can use it outside of NaNoWriMo. She has one for tracking your progress over the course of a year from month to month, as well. I encourage everyone to check it out. I played around with it last night. It was a lot of fun. Here’s a link to a word count ticker like the one I’ve set up to your right. I thought it would motivate me if I could see the progress I’m making from week to week. I’ve given myself this lovely deadline of about 9 weeks (don’t ask,…

    First Draft Complete!

OMG! It’s been 4 months in the making, almost to the exact day, but I’m done with my first draft and it came up at over 9,000 words longer than I was expecting. (This is a good thing.) happy dance I shamelessly had this delivered to myself today to commemorate my success. I bought them ahead of time so it feels really good to actually have been done when they showed up. Official Title: Chains of Destiny coming 2014. Lol! I had two pretty big moments when I didn’t think this story was going to make it. The first time was early one when I got to my third chapter…
