Cover Reveal: Garden of Ravens Edition

Still getting things together, but the cover is done and I didn’t want to wait to spread it around! ^_^ When it came time to get a cover together for my first poetry collection, I knew what I wanted in theory. But poetry books aren’t often very elaborate. They’re mostly simple with a lot of negative space. It probably goes without saying, but a typical cover wasn’t going to work for me. Luckily, I have a designer who knows what she’s doing, and she was able to talk me into a happy medium between something plainer and something that would grace the cover of a paranormal book. ^_^ I wanted…

    Unofficial Poetry Styles

Disclaimer: 😀 I took one poetry class in college, for half a semester, and received a B, points off for being difficult, like when I argued that all haikus didn’t have to literally be about nature. I stand behind everything 19-year-old me said. I’m not a poetry expert, but it’s fun to talk about stuff, so this is my understanding of poetry and the verbiage I use to describe different aspects of it. 🙂 Style 1 – Formed/Traditional Things don’t have to be uniform, but formed poems have a clear pattern, sometimes rhyme, and usually make some kind of sense without having to try too hard. Here you have your…

    Should Anti-Social People Use Facebook?

Over the last few months, I talked with my family a few times about deleting my Facebook author page and was met with absolutely no support. I seem to have a problem with making decisions. I worry a lot about stupid stuff and rather I’m making the right decision or not. It’s like when I’m between projects, I am ultimately the only one who can decide what to work on next, because I am the one doing the writing. But the same holds true for literally everything else in my life. I am the only one who can make decisions for myself, and the longer it takes me to make…

Lochness Monster, Writing Confidence, and Other Things That Don’t Exist

So, I follow a writer who apparently is doing so well with her writing that she can afford a second home in Scotland. All these books published. So much experience. And yet, not a week goes by, it seems, where she doesn’t complain about how hard it is to write a book. Some people look up to her and think: Oh wow. Insecurity NEVER GOES AWAY! How effing refreshing that a successful writer still feels awful about her writing. That makes me feel so the total opposite of alone! Yay! Me? I look at her and think: Really? You’re still having problems? Why do I even bother then? Not to…

    Writing Life: Researching Phase Complete

I would like to start off by stating that I haven’t changed projects, and in fact, am not changing projects, because one – I refuse, and two – if I don’t finish this I will die of a broken writer heart. ^_^ via GIPHY So, things are slow in story-land, but it’s been slow in an interesting way. The last several stories I finished all came together pretty quickly. This story isn’t like that. It’ll likely, maybe, speed up at some point, but I’m dealing with an idea that went overlooked for so long it had gone to sleep (haha). It was like Sleeping Beauty’s castle in that world for…
