Super Technical Book Rating System
I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about the way I rate books before, but since I have another wrap up coming next week, I’m going to do it again anyway because I want to. I think I’m pretty good at picking up reads I’ll enjoy, plus, I don’t think I’m all that hard to please, so when I run across a book I don’t like, I do tend to be kind of pissy about it. Of course, ratings are subjective. And they might change over time with distance, discussion, and rereads. But I like to rate books. It’s a fun way to gauge how I felt about something at that point…

Are Book Covers Really That Important?
Before I get started, let me clarify that yes, book covers are important. It’s often the first run-in sighted people will have with a book. If a cover is bad, the content doesn’t matter. It’s the book cover’s job to be alluring and fabulous, to draw us in. Sometimes into a pit. But often into a new world filled with adventure! Anywho, I was watching a bookish video or fifty one day, and the Booktuber I was watching kept talking about how beautiful a book cover was, then she said, “I know it doesn’t matter, but isn’t this so pretty?” Then someone in the comments of this or another video…

Mini Reading Challenges
Iโm thinking of doing themed reading challenges next year. I think itโll be fun. I wanted to do that this year, but I didn’t take the time to figure out how I actually wanted to do it. I watched these videos over the weekend of someone picking their TBR out of a jar. Basically, she would have something like, “a blue book” or “a book on someone else’s TBR” and use those prompts to help her narrow down which books she wants to read each month. I don’t want to do that with each book, but I think I’m going to take a cue from her and put themes in…

September 2020 Reads
Hiya! ๐ Wrapping things up at the very end of the month! Find excitement in the little things, right? ๐ I’m only ten books from my 2020 Reading Goal. I have a few longer books I want to read that I’ll probably get started on in November, but I’m surprised this is turning out to be a great reading year. I was pretty sure I was going to come up short after only finishing one short story between April, May, and June. And I was okay with that. I don’t set reading goals to stress myself. I set them to make sure I’m prioritizing something that’s important to me. I…

LibraryOffice Update
Hello! ^_^ So before I get to the photos, I wanted to talk a little bit about what I ended up doing. Originally, I wanted an entire wall filled with shelves, not quite going up to the ceiling because I’m short, along with a basic desk with a drawer or two to house my ridiculous pen collection. I considered custom shelving, but as my budget for everything changed multiple times over the moving process, I looked into other options while I was making up my mind. So, first, IKEA. I like their Billy shelves, they look good, but I really wanted gray shelves, so it was a compromise from the…
