    #ARCSAREFREE Debacle

Okie dokie: Rare Extra Post I don’t know if anyone saw this circulating on Twitter around the end of May. I only found out about it on YouTube over the weekend. I’m not plugged into AuthorTube “Tea” so I had no idea this was going on. If you hadn’t heard about it, I’ll summarize: There is an author who is only offering ARCs to Patrons who are subscribed to her $50 tier on Patreon for at least 3 months – essentially “charging” $150 for ARCs and guaranteeing any early reviews she gets on any book will be biased as hell. My personal opinion on this is: I don’t give a…

    Should Anti-Social People Use Facebook?

Over the last few months, I talked with my family a few times about deleting my Facebook author page and was met with absolutely no support. I seem to have a problem with making decisions. I worry a lot about stupid stuff and rather I’m making the right decision or not. It’s like when I’m between projects, I am ultimately the only one who can decide what to work on next, because I am the one doing the writing. But the same holds true for literally everything else in my life. I am the only one who can make decisions for myself, and the longer it takes me to make…

Not Finishing Stuff I Read Or Whatever

Hi. 🙂 I don’t remember when, but I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about reading deal-breakers over the years. Like, I personally take issue with bad writing, but I hardly ever run into writing so bad I can’t read a book with an interesting story anyway. I also don’t like unnecessary love triangles and pop culture references. And I’ve DnFed books with stupid, brainless protagonists and other random offences. But you can nitpick like that when everything else is in place, you know. There are a lot of problems books can have, not limited to but including: pacing issues, characterization issues for main and/or side characters, mechanical and technical issues like…

Books & Stories & Rambles – July Edition

This month marks the anniversary of my first ever finished “novel.” And every year around this time, I like to reflect. So, I’ve come to the realization that I do not have time to get feedback on “Legion” before Pitch Wars – especially considering the fact that I’ve barely started editing and by barely, I mean, I’ve read over one short paragraph. I also decided to start with Chapter Nine instead of Fourteen, just because. And I don’t feel bad for taking a break. The brain needed some rest and we (the brain and I) wanted to catch up on some shows and knock a book out before we got wrapped…

    Warning: Class 5 YA Rant

I don’t remember when this was, but a while back, I was reading a blog post in which the author of said post was going on and on about how they were writing their first story in the “adult” category (having previously only written young adult) and what a relief it was not to have to “hold back” anymore. Hold back as in, “Yay, now I can cuss like a sailor!” <— I’m not joking. That is seriously what they meant. Like really? Read much? I can’t say I’ve read a TON of YA that has “bad” language in it, but I have. I am, in fact, reading one right…
