Release Day Party: Garden of Ravens

Poetry book is out today!! 😀 To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to go over the different sections and talk about them or whatever. ^_^ I organized things in a way that I thought would make sense or at least a way that made sense in my head. If you’ve been around the cafe for a while or have read any of my books, you might recognize a few poems, as everything that’s published on this blog or in a novel are also in this book. That might account for maybe ten poems, but they’re here. I’ve mentioned that I write song lyrics for fun sometimes, so some…

The Graveyard of Crap I Need To Rewrite

Haha. I’ve come to conclusion that I am being haunted by old projects, so I’m going to talk about what is haunting me and my plan to remedy this situation. Anything that I wrote before 2007 is off the table. This isn’t to say that I’ll never rewrite any of those. I’m only saying that none of those projects are haunting me. Also off the table are any partially finished projects. Most of these are not far enough along to haunt me anyway, and I don’t really consider them to be “unfinished.” They’re more like “ideas-in-progress.” Unfinished to me means I left loose ends everywhere, and ideas-in-progress don’t have loose…

    New Project Talk: Experimenting Edition

If you’ve been around The Narcissistic Rose Café for a while, you know how much I love experimenting!! I like to tag entries like this with a “closet mad scientist” moniker. 😀 I have a number of projects in the plot bunny field that are straight up experiments. Before I can get to them without freaking myself out, however, I have to first write a book that has some familiar elements mixed with less familiar elements. A kind of a bridge, let’s say. Like, before I could write something like WINTER’S SIREN, I had to get my writing back on track with NO REST FOR THE WICKED, because I was…

    Talking About Author Tube

Some of you may know that I have a YouTube channel. If you didn’t know, Hi, I have a YouTube Channel. Here’s a link. 😛 When I first started making videos, I intended for it to mostly be an extension of this blog, with random videos of other things along the way as the mood struck. I never get sick of talking about writing. Even when I was burned out, I didn’t struggle to keep the blog going. I struggled to talk about my work, for obvious reasons, but I didn’t struggle to talk in general. In fact, I have a huge backlog of posts, so there’s no shortage of…

    Past Project Problems

Earlier this year, I was juggling a couple of projects. While there aren’t any real issues with Project Pinewood Falls, other than me not quite being in the mood for it right now, I can’t say the same for Project Puppet Box. I don’t have plot problems, per se, but since my plots tend to stem directly from my characters, and I’m having main character problems, specifically, I have no confidence in the plot as a result. It doesn’t “feel right” for lack of a better explanation, and since I got out of the forcing crap business, I have no choice but to keep setting it aside. And speaking of…
