    February Reads: 2019 Edition

OMG, you guys!!! This was like such a good month for reading! I mean, I had to Dnf a book and replace it with something else, because I am not about that struggling-to-read life! But yeah, nine more books read, and I’m so excited. 😀 10: The Giving Tree Author: Shel Silverstein Genre: Picture Book Rating: 5 stars Reviewed: No I remember reading this years ago and thinking it was the most depressing thing ever. Still, I loved it then, and I still find it strangely enjoyable to read now. 11: The Wicked Deep Author: Shea Ernshaw Genre: YA Paranormal Romance Rating: 5 stars Reviewed: No Do not ask me…

What Makes Me Buy A Book?

This is a topic I find interesting, because my purchasing habits seem to be quite random sometimes. Reason #1 – Pretty Shiny Cover I love a shiny cover! When there are a hundred books to look at, I base my decision on what to stop and look at based on how much I like the cover. I like certain genres more than others, so covers that cover darker themes or fairy tale themes are going to stop me more than others. I am loathe to buy a book with a cover I don’t like. I have to look at that thing, and I like pretty things, so it has to…

First Reading Wrap Up of 2019

GUYS!! I finished nine books this month! I swapped an anthology I planned for another graphic novel, but I can’t even believe I actually got everything read. I’m so excited! 😀 1: Wild Embers Author: Nikita Gill Genre: Poetry Rating: 3 stars Reviewed: Yes This just wasn’t my kind of poetry. It was mostly poems about space, feminism, and healing from trauma, and I could have honestly done without the space and feminism poems. The funny thing is, I’m a closeted feminist, so I didn’t disagree with her, I was just put off by the way she was talking about it. And anytime someone is messing with fairytales and mythology,…

    Melodramatic Reading Goal Talk :D

For some insane reason, I gave myself 9 books to read in January. >.< In my defense, most of the books are shorter or easier to read. And also in my defense, I actually originally wrote down 8 books, and that’s the goal I have posted by my desk, so really, I don’t have to read 9 books to meet my goal. In any case, it’s halfway through the month (or so), and I have read two books!! Now, I’m not panicking. First of all, if I don’t get all the books read, it’s not a big deal. Second of all, I can still totally read most of them! Like…

    Poetry and Such

GUYS! 😀 I has news! …kinda, sorta, whatever, dontlookatme. >.< So, you may or may not know that around two and a half years ago I had half a mind to publish a book of poems. I never set a deadline for this project, and it was quite easy to push aside, but I did expect to publish it one day. And well…I’m crazy close to my goal. As of this posting, I have the 100 or so poems I wanted, and I don’t know if they’ll all make the final cut, but I’m trying not to be paranoid about it. If I cut something, I want it to be because…
