Being Like Super Productive & Whatever

Usually when it’s crunch time, meaning I’m almost done with a story, I will fill every available hour of my day with writing. As a result, I burn myself out and take a few weeks off to recover. What this does, however, is make it super hard to sit down and start writing again. Like, super hard. And that 15 day break turns into two months. Meaning I’m far less productive than I could be. A kind of, what I would call “normal” productivity that I can pull off without stressing myself out. Not to long ago, a poetry writing friend of mine told me about a book she found…

Cover Reveal: No Rest for the Wicked!

Whoo! It’s shiny cover reveal day at The Narcissistic Rose! ^_^ First some shout-outs to Xpresso Book Tours, the participating bloggers, and my writing friends for being awesome and helping me spread the book love today! ^_^ The cover was designed by the great team at NajlaQamberDesigns.com – referred to me by fellow indie author and writing genie Jodi Perkins. 😀 Fun side note: I’m usually the kind of person who has all kinds of fun brainstorming mock covers for my projects. I quite literally have cover ideas for nearly everything that’s currently in the brainstorming phase. On this story, however, I had no idea what I wanted. Not only that,…

The DIY Publishing Diary: Volume Four – The Basics

Here are some things I’ve learned over the past few months: How to find a Cover Designer Cue mini rant – Never under any circumstances should anyone put their book out into the world without a cover. I read a story on the Absolute Write forum by someone who actually put her book up on Amazon without a cover on it!! Someone felt sorry for the poor girl and made a cheapo, but pretty, abstract cover for her to slap on there, but REALLY?! End PSA. There is always Google, but I found it more helpful to do three things: 1) Ask your writing friends who have published a book where…

There’s No Place Like Home For The Holidays…

So far this year, this has been me… So unlike my usual… I’m done shopping for gifts, a few weeks later than usual, I must say. Haha. It’s on my calendar to get decorations up tonight as I only have two decorations right now, but I did get wrapping and gift bagging done last night, also later than usual. 😛 I know what you might be thinking: “Seriously, it’s only the 7th.” But this is a person (me) who is usually done and wrapped by Thanksgiving and decorating the house the weekend after. So, yes, I’m behind. And yes, everyone is teasing me. Haha. I wasn’t feeling all that festive…

    Get Yer Mini Makeover On

My HVAC unit, which had been dying for nearly two years, finally played out earlier this month. So whilst I was melting (in nearly 90 degree indoor weather) and waiting for a tech to come over and tell me it had finally died and then waiting some more for another tech to come over and fix it (same day THANK GOD), I sludged over to the old blog did a bit ‘o remodeling! Can ya tell? Can ya, huh? Fine. I’ll tell you. 🙂 Firstly, I did an overhaul on all the fonts. Not a drastic change, but I was ready to look at something else. Secondly, I’ve replaced the…
