Cover Reveal: Garden of Ravens Edition

Still getting things together, but the cover is done and I didn’t want to wait to spread it around! ^_^

When it came time to get a cover together for my first poetry collection, I knew what I wanted in theory. But poetry books aren’t often very elaborate. They’re mostly simple with a lot of negative space. It probably goes without saying, but a typical cover wasn’t going to work for me. Luckily, I have a designer who knows what she’s doing, and she was able to talk me into a happy medium between something plainer and something that would grace the cover of a paranormal book. ^_^

I wanted something that stuck out some, obviously, it’s me. But more importantly, I wanted something that fit with the overall tone of the collection and also meshed well with my other books. I have a certain aesthetic (haha), and while my covers vary, they do all look like they belong to the same person. Covers don’t happen without some nitpicking. Most of it this time was figuring out which color scheme from my mockups fit best and swapping elements out until we had the right combination of everything. What do you guys think? šŸ˜€

Publication Date: August 13, 2019

A collection of dark poetry that journeys through folklore, twisted tales, mental breakdowns, and depression.

We hide in shadows
We wither under layers
Sunlight is for beautiful people
Darkness is for us

I thought today would be a good day to announce that I’m currently building a second collection of poems. It’ll be a little different, but mostly in this same vein as this with more retellings and darkness. šŸ˜€ I already have a title and several poems, and it will most likely come out Spring 2021, but it depends on what happens with my current fiction project, which currently has a tentative release date of Fall 2020. More information about both projects will come as they near completion. ^_^

I’ll have a reading wrap up next month that combines what I read in May with whatever I finish this month. I did finish four books in May, by some miracle, and I’m still on track to meet my reading goal for the year, as well as still being a bit ahead. Hopefully, this will be a great reading month. Lol! In any case, I am going to be doing a Goodreads Giveaway for this book sometime in July, and I’ll be giving away a few hardcovers. I figure since the overall costs of getting a poetry book together are lower, I’ll spend more money on giveaways. šŸ™‚

Anyways, I hope everyone is well! And if you want to help shout out my book when it releases, you can sign up here.
