November Wrap Up

Hey guys!! ^_^

So, my biggest mission for November was to read a lot. I didn’t read as much as I wanted, as I also wanted to watch a lot of TV and do some beta reading. Specifically, I wanted to watch Stranger Things and finish Westworldย so I could cancel HBO, which I hated because I’m 100% against programming artificial intelligence to think for itself and it just hit a nerve. That said, if any robots/androids are reading this from the future, I’ve since changed my mind, and I am 100% on your side and ready to take orders. ๐Ÿ˜€

In any case, I’m only two books away from meeting my Goodreads goal for the year! I want to finish three books over, fingers crossed. ๐Ÿ™‚

In writing news, I’ve been the proud mom of two book babies for about a month now. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m still excited. Because it’s exciting. And earlier this month, I got my editorial letter and notes back from the editor for WHISPER. I was a little scared because the letter was two and half pages long, but it wasn’t bad at all. A few plot things to fix up and some inconsistent technical stuff. (sigh of relief) The document itself is equally digestible. So, editing should be fun. Yay! #nosarcasmneeded I don’t tend worry about getting feedback and edit notes these days. I want to improve the stories, and I can’t do that if I don’t know what’s wonky. That said, I always mentally prepare for the worst. Just in case.

Anywho, speaking of WHISPER, the official release date is April 3, 2018, and the cover reveal day is January 3, 2018! The blurb will be up with the cover, but it’s about a wealthy family with a history of madness, and the editor said it was “riveting!” Which was great to hear, of course. ๐Ÿ˜€ Paranormal in genre, also of course. Here’s a teaser image of what’s to come. ^_^

Check out the font for the title!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

I can’t wait!! I’ve already been sitting on the cover for over a month.

Now, it’s very true that I plan on being 100% done with this by the end of the January. So, technically, I could release it sooner. But it’s like, I don’t want to stress myself out. I need time to get copies printed and looked over, and it’s going to be October before the next book comes out, probably, and I don’t want the releases to get just too far apart, though at the same time, it feels like they’re pretty close together as they are.

So, in the spirit of experimentation, I’m going to start releasing books on different days, namely because I’ve only been releasing them on Wednesday because I usually blog on Wednesdays, and speaking of that, I might put up a blog on different days now and again. Maybe. I think it might be good for my mental health, because I’ve honestly gotten a little inflexible about it. Haha. Also, I’m probably self-hosting the cover reveal again, because why not?

It’s technically my long term goal to publish every 6 or 7 months, because that sounds manageable, at least for the time being. But it’s going to be five months from WINTER’S SIREN to WHISPER and possibly 6 months from WHISPER to the next book, which has a super long title if I keep it: “The Forest of Mist and Destruction” – probably going to take up the entire cover, which could be fun. It was originally “Deliver Us From Chaos” – I don’t remember why I changed it though.

In other news, I might be rehauling the site soon. I don’t know how much I’m going to change. It depends on what I find out there, but I’m on the prowl for something different. I want a change in scenery! Thus far, I’ve been happy with the blog, but I hate the author site, and updating it even the tiniest bit has been a huge pain for some reason, so I need a better and more flexible template.

Anyway, happy of end of November!

Releasing a book every six or seven months seems incredibly fast to me, but it seems to be normal–this book by this romance author I love just came out on Tuesday. It’s a sequel to a book that was released this February, I think. Looking forward to what you might do with the site!

I can’t wait to overhaul the site!! It amazes me how fast some people can get a book out. I was listening to a webinar yesterday, and this guy is on a four month release schedule from outlining to release day – he writes 2500+ words a day, to which I was like, yeah, no. LOL!

Twice a year releases would be amazing! My turtles could never do that ๐Ÿ˜‰ Congrats on getting the edits back and I love the teaser. Have fun in the editing cave and don’t forget to lug along enough snacks!

    • Krystal Jane

Iโ€™ll gift the turtles some roller skates, for emergencies, not all the time. Thatโ€™s exhausting. ^_^ Totally forgot the editing cave was out of fuel. ๐Ÿ˜€

Ooh, that is a nice font. ๐Ÿ˜€

I never really thought about the pacing of releases before. I guess that’s another benefit of self-pubbing, that you can space them out however you want! Once upon a time, I had a decent run of having something released every 6-8 months or so, but then life got in the way, as it does. One day, though…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™m becoming rather obsessed with fonts. ๐Ÿ˜€

Iโ€™m hoping some kind of schedule will keep me from slacking off too much. As long as itโ€™s manageable.

I’m dying to see the cover for Whisper! You know me, I’m a cover-hoarder and have very little patience for waiting. ๐Ÿ˜›

That would be a dream to put out two books in six months. Shoot, I’d die of happiness if I could average just one mere book every two years. Can I be you when I grow up?

My kids (17 and 13 years old) both say they love “Deliver us from Chaos”. My daughter also likes “Deliver us from the Mist”. Neither one of them like the word “destruction”; my daughter says it’s too “sharp” (whatever that means).

Unrelated, but I finally started Winter’s Siren! I’ve only read one chapter but I’m already engrossed. Gonna post this comment now so I can get back to reading!

      Iโ€™m becoming a cover hoarder! ๐Ÿ˜€

Haha. I canโ€™t wait until you have another book out! ^_^

I donโ€™t know what to do about the title! Especially since I didnโ€™t have a problem with the original. I have to meditate on it.

Yay! Hope you like it! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Jodi Perkins (@Perkjo)

You’re like the title-whisperer so I have full confidence you’ll work it out by the time that book is ready to be released.

Oh, title for book 3 of Chasing Echoes: SPRING OF CROWS. I love it. Only problem is it’s Krystal’s book, and she’s Winter. But the events–which include an ice-age in Sezona Hills and strange activity amongst the crows–are a continuation of Aviva’s story (the pov will alternate between Aviva and Krystal, amongst others), and they happen in spring. Hmmmm….
