Cover Reveal Deets & Such

GUYS! LOL! ^_^

Exciting announcements time!

First thing, I remembered how the template I used last year for the print book is supposed to be eBook compatible, so I’m going to try uploading it and letting the eBook people convert it…I’m not comfortable, but it’s supposed to work. Haha. I’m getting my book back from the proofreader this weekend (according to her last email), so I’m trying to decide if I should spend my 3-Day weekend formatting and reading my book or binging Game of Thrones. I also have a book I want to finish this weekend.

Formatting is in first place. Haha. I’m excited about season 7, but like, I rather play with my story with my extra time. I have a month to watch the pitiful 7 episodes that make up this latest season. I know, I’m being like super cheap and using a free month of HBO through Hulu, but like, I just want to watch that and West World. I can totally do that in a month. πŸ™‚

But dudes! On a random note: while on the topic of HBO, I watched this creepy-ass movie called “Within” and I’m just all kinds of uncomfortable about it. LOL!

I also wanted to say, I feel like formatting gets a super bad rep. Even the other week, I watched two YouTube videos in a row where people were complaining about how hard formatting is. And I was just like, “Really, I quite like it.” So, I wanted to reiterate – templates are you friend. They make the grass greener and the flowers bloomer. ^_^

In fact, I cannot wait to do the formatting! Mostly because I’m dying to hold this book in my hands. Also because release day will be here before I know it! Also,Β also,Β because if I do it this weekend, it’ll free up my writer’s plate for my current WIP. I’ll be able to focus so much better on it once the final read-through and formatting are done.

Next off, the cover reveal for WINTER’S SIREN is officially scheduled for next week!! That’s right. Wednesday September 6th. I cannot wait!! If you want to help out, you can shoot me an email or whatever and tell me what kind of information you want, but I’m self-hosting this time, because experiments. ^_^

But that’s not all!! Also happening next week, I’m unveiling the first chapter!! I’ll be posting a link here, and it’ll take you to the author site to read it!!Β The post should link to my profile on Goodreads, and it’ll also post to Facebook. I’ll also mention it on Instagram and YouTube, so make sure you’re following me somewhere if you want to know when it’s live so you can read it! ^_^

More reasons to do the proofreading and formatting this weekend. I want to put up a polished first chapter!

Okay. Enough exclamation points. Maybe. πŸ˜›

In related news, release day is November 1st! If you want to celebrate with me and do an interview or share an excerpt or something, let me know! ^_^

In more related news, my cover designer has delivered my freaking teasers and they are gorgeous as crap. I’ll be unveiling those soon! They’re super wide, so I’m still trying to figure out how to post them on Instagram, but SO PRETTY!!

It’s funny because I already had images I wanted to use for the teasers, but after seeing my cover, I found even better ones on PixaBay and Pexels. ^_^ Highly recommend! I’ll drop an image below that I found and tweaked a little.

Okay, I’m just a little hyper. πŸ˜›

YAY! Of course, come release day, you *must* come on and be poked with questions or whatever on my blog.

Oh, and in random non-news: I tried to move my blog to WordPress at, like, 3 am on Saturday and I got it imported and stuff, but couldn’t figure out how to make the home page of the website not the blog page, y’know? And the templates were driving me crazy and then I threw in the towel and deleted if off WordPress and decided Blogger was fine.

^_^ I went through some similar struggles with templates and such. In fact, on my author site, I went through a mini headache over the weekend. But having a static page is easier than it seems once you find it. It’s under Settings – Reading. At the very top it says “Front Page Displays” and then you pick blog posts or a static page that you made. In case you want to try again. LOL! I was trying to figure out how to put a widget on my static home page. Once I figured it out, I felt dumb, but so is life. Haha.

Count me in! Just shoot me anything and everything over, and I’ll scream to the top of my lungs for you. You’re the 1st person I’ve seen who doesn’t mind formatting. I know nothing about it, but now, it sounds like it might not be the terrible monster everyone complains about after all. Gosh, I can’t believe how much you’re putting out this year – super energy πŸ™‚

    • Krystal Jane

Thank you!! I’ll send you an email later. ^_^

It’s really not if you have a template. You have to be a little patient to figure out what the styles and settings do, but after that it’s just about plugging everything in. And it’s exciting watching everything come to life.

Formatting is only a problem if you don’t follow directions exactly. Which a lot of people don’t do. And I’ve been guilty of it in the past, so I’m not throwing stones in my glass house or whatever. (“Why isn’t this $^%#ing thing wor—-OH.)

I’ll definitely host you for your new release! Can’t wait to see the new cover! πŸ˜€

I watched an hour long instruction video before attempting to format. LOL! So glad I did, though. I still ran into some mild issues, but it was all me being picky about interior decorations. πŸ™‚

Yay! Thank you! I’ll get some files sent your way.
