Bookish Swag
The time has come to figure out what I want to give away with my WINTER’S SIREN launch!
With my last book, after much deliberation and help from my sister, I ended up giving away dark fantasy coloring books, a tote bag, copies of my book, bookmarks, a keychain, and I think that’s it, because that’s all I can remember.
Since I’m in the business of experimenting, in lieu of giving away my book for launch, I’m going to give away several copies in a Goodreads giveaway. So for launch, I was trying to think of things I would find exciting, but I also wanted things that are themed, kind of, you know. I think a fairy tale anthology (Grimm’s), themed scented candle, book cover notebook, book cover keychain, and bookmarks would be exciting, right? And a feather quill pen if I can find one I like. I get annoyingly specific about what I want sometimes. Makes it hard to make a decision.
I want to give away some socks with a book at some point, but I don’t know how to find cool ones. Clearly, I’m boring when it comes to that. Seriously, all of my socks are white or black. I have colored socks sometimes, but once they get holes in them, it’s just easier to run to the store and get plain ones.
Last time I just had one bookmark design, this time I’ll have three: two teaser bookmarks and one book cover bookmark. I’ll post pictures when I get them. They’re really pretty in my head. π
In other experimenting news, I have an announcement to make! ^_^ My next project is going to be a duology!! π²Β It’s in my head that way, and I’m so freaking excitied!! It is cutting line, but that’s okay. The idea I thought might be next in line is a giant mess, still, but we’re working through it.
The duology is a fairy tale/classic novel hybrid with slight futuristic elements. I cannot wait! I don’t know when it’s going to come out. I want to have them both done – first drafts – before I make any publication plans, but the goal is to release them within a few months of each other starting next fall, like November and then February? So excited. ^_^
And speaking of exciting news, “Whisper” is going well, and I have a blurb drafted! The MC’s having to fight for my attention a tiny bit, but there’s so much excitement going on!! The goal is to completely finish this by the end of the year, if I can get a proofreader on board for the beginning of December – it’ll put me ahead of schedule so I won’t have to juggle projects too much next year. Yay!
Also, I’m done Christmas shopping except for a possible extra gift, gift bags, and tissue paper. Haha. So, outside of the mountain of books I want to read, I don’t have too many typical things on my plate for the fall, which is great because I get lazy in wintertime. π
And in the last bit of exciting news: I have cover mock ups for WINTER’S SIREN and OMG! Metaphorically dying over here. ^_^
I got two different mock ups this time, because there’s how things look in your head and the reality. They’re both gorgeous, but I made a decision right away because it’s just so shiny!! I’ll announce the cover reveal day and other such mess next week. I can’t wait!!! I have the best cover designer in the world. π
Anyway, I can’t wait to get my teasers and bookmarks! I found a site that does bookmarks with rounded edges. It’s the little things. ^_^

So many exciting things going on!!! But did I read that right when you said you’re done with Christmas shopping???!!!

^_^ Haha, yeah…I take a long time to make decisions sometimes, so since I knew what I wanted to get, I went ahead and got stuff while I was in the mood.

Lots going on! Can’t wait to see the covers, of course, and the swag.
How are you already done with Christmas shopping?

So excited!! ^_^
Haha! I have a lot my plate this fall. The plan was to make a list and buy stuff next month, but I got excited. π

Your giveaways sound perfect! Congratulations on all that you’re getting done!
I’m a bit behind because life has been awesomely full. BTW – my family has been traveling, but we’ve been scrimping on many other things – even household projects that are just going to have to wait indefinitely.

That’s good to hear! ^_^ Thank you! It’s okay to be behind with all you have going on. Sending a kid off to college is a big deal! Plus they’re into awesome things, as well. It’s great how much you guys support them. π

What fun giveaways you’re planning! And, wow, you’re done with Christmas shopping already. Usually I have mine done in November which everyone thinks is early, but you’ve got me beat. π

Thank you! November is reasonably early. I think more people should be done in November so they can relax all month. ^_^
