There’s No Place Like Home For The Holidays…

So far this year, this has been me…

So unlike my usual…

I’m done shopping for gifts, a few weeks later than usual, I must say. Haha. It’s on my calendar to get decorations up tonight as I only have two decorations right now, but I did get wrapping and gift bagging done last night, also later than usual. πŸ˜›

I know what you might be thinking: “Seriously, it’s only the 7th.” But this is a person (me) who is usually done and wrapped by Thanksgiving and decorating the house the weekend after. So, yes, I’m behind. And yes, everyone is teasing me. Haha. I wasn’t feeling all that festive until I was hunting for pictures to put on this post. I was just, “Let’s not put a tree up this year and just stack the gifts on top of each other in the middle of the room.” (Which is still pretty tempting.)

But then I found this little guy:

And I’m like, “Aww, I like Christmas.” I like Charlie Brown. I like the music. I like the decorations.

And it reminds me to be thankful. After all, I have little to be upset about. People love me, for some reason. I have a book coming out next year! The cold doesn’t bother me, and I’m inside most of the day anyway. The crowds don’t bother me because I rarely venture out shopping, especially not when it’s cold and dark and crowded outside.Β You know, Hanukkah starts on Christmas Day this year. That sounds like it might be fun for the hybrid families. ^_^

Anyway, the blog is going on hiatus until the end of the month. I’m going to relax. Not pressure myself to do anything. Write. Read some stuff. Watch a couple of Christmas movies.Β Drink some hot chocolate. πŸ˜€

While I’m here though, I do have a couple of writing updates! ^^ On the editing front, I have line edits for “No Rest for the Wicked” coming next week. I’m not sure what to expect, but I’m a lifelong English nerd, so it can’t be too bad, right? ^^ Then I’ll be officially done with the story!! That’s kind of sad, but it’s more exciting. Because I know this isn’t the end of the road. And it feels really good to say that. πŸ˜€

On the drafting front, I am still working on “Winter’s Siren,” and it’s still going well. But it is also going very slow. I’m not complaining. I can’t barrel through everything. But I didn’t even have chapter headings until last night. I have two point of views so I was just writing under their names. I liked it at first, but then it started getting kind of weird not to know what chapter I was on. I also figured I would regret it later when I had a whole document of chapter headings to put in. Apparently, I’m on chapter seven. That felt a little low, but I checked it three times, so I must have a couple of long chapters in there already.

Anywho, I did have a moment the other night where I was like, “And exactly why did I think this was a good idea again? I should work on something else.” But then I got some movement in the old brain that night while I was trying to fall asleep, of course, so I have my next couple of chapters kind of outlined at least. I guess it’s impossible to get through an entire story without doubt coming into play. One chapter at a time, right? πŸ™‚

Anyway, folks, stay warm! Stay hydrated. ^_^
See you on the 28th!

I go through periods of grumpy cat and Charlie Brown sweetness too. All my gifts are bought and wrapped, but the tree will have to wait as the cat is likely to cause all sorts of trouble with it! Enjoy your hiatus. Happy holidays to you and yours. πŸ™‚

      Merry Christmas! ^_^
Gosh, I know right? I wrapped presents at the mall a couple of years ago. Some people are so nice, but others…freaking insane. Plus, we were doing it for free. Haha.

I love these gifs. I have been struggling to get into the season this year. I have a tree up, but it’s not decorated yet. Life has been busy. I’m hoping that everything calms down so I can take a moment to put up decorations while sipping hot chocolate and singing Christmas carols.
    Merry Christmas!

I do, too! ^_^ I’m still planning to put a tree up, but I’m putting the smaller tree up. Less work. Still pretty. I definitely need to bust out the carols tonight! πŸ˜€ Merry Christmas!!

I’m totally off balance this year, but I’m blaming it on the unusually warm weather which held on so long (got to blame it on something, right?) Sorry, you’re a little bummed, but the blog pause should help with that. Can’t wait until your release, and yay to the writing! Today is my figure out what presents I have together and what not. I collect over the entire year in a big box (huge familay πŸ˜‰ ) and forget who I bought for and who not. But those packages need to get underway! Enjoy your singing. I’ll join in with you πŸ™‚

I did most of my shopping online again and it’s SO easy. I’m finished with everything but the food-related gifts that I have to do closer to time. And the part my husband has to help with (his daughter and his best friend). My husband will be buying all my gifts on Christmas Eve!

    • Krystal Jane

I did most of mine online, too. I think I only had to pick up a couple of things that I got about a month ago. Haha. Your husband sounds like my dad! He thinks he’s early if it’s before the 23rd. Lol!
