WIPMarathon Check-In #8 (December/January)
Hey!! One week left!
Last Word Count + Chapter Count:
19841 words, Chapter 7
Current WC + CC:
37977 words, Chapter 11
WIP Issues this week:
I worry about random stuff, but I didn’t really have any issues this week. The new(ish) direction is going well. This story has a sequel and the wheels are finally spinning on that, so hopefully I’ll be able to write it soon. This sequel is one of the reasons I haven’t been able to give up on this story. I want to write it SO bad. 🙂
What I learned this week in writing:
Nothing much new going on in the story, but 20 degrees and below is freaking cold. Seriously, I’m the kind of person who wears a sweater jacket in 25 degree weather, but you know, a coat really is better than a sweater jacket. It doesn’t let as much cold air in. Who knew? Everyone knew? Ah, poo.
…Yeah…random…
What distracted me this week while writing:
Um…distractions? Nothing new. I reached my 100th blog post this week!! So, that was exciting! Lol! ^_^
I cleared out most of the distractions this week though. I had a character I really wanted to maim, so my goal for this week was to get to that scene in Ch. 11. I had forgotten how much I love Ch. 12, but I had to stop after that fight scene because I need to make a few major changes to the next chapter, and I had run out of free time. Boo.
Last 200 words:
Okie…The end of Chapter 11 won’t make sense out of context, so this is from Chapter 12, a bit before I have to start hacking away at it.
The princess stirs and then suddenly bolts upright. She tosses her head from side to side and peers into the darkness, startled.
“It’s just me,” he says.
She relaxes back against the headboard and smiles. “You haven’t been in here in a while.”
“No.”
“I miss how things used to be,” she says, her voice heavy with genuine-sounding sadness. “I feel like we’re drifting apart.”
He turns his face away from her and doesn’t respond.
“Dolofonos, please talk to me. I can’t stand that you’re mad at me.”
He squeezes his eyes shut and tries to block out the sound of her voice. All he wants to do is apologize and take her in his arms and forget he ever said anything stupid about leaving. But if he does that now he’ll undo three years of hard work. Three years of trying to distance himself from her.
I hope everyone had a great and productive week! ^_^

I like the excerpt! Great character interaction. It looks like you’ve got a lot of words down this week! 🙂
Have a great week, and keep warm! 🙂

Thank you! 🙂
Trying to keep warm. The sun is not as warm as it looks today. Ha!

I love your grip on Dolofonos’ emotions. It was moving.
And oh man, I almost couldn’t believe your word count this week. Great job! So glad you’re finding your groove!
krystal jane
Thank you. ^_^ I love those two so much.
Yeah, I had a good week. I’m surprised at the word count because I have it turned off, plus I have the previous draft pasted underneath for reference, so I have no idea what kind of progress I’m making day to day. I love that though!

The excerpt is awesome. Makes me want to know why he’s distanced himself from her. That word count is really impressive!

Thank you! ^_^
I was in the zone this week. It’s the part of the story heaviest in action until the end. There’s a lot of fun stuff going on right now. 🙂

Great progress – wow!
The thought of a sequel is always motivation to get through the draft of a preceding book! Happy writing!
krystal jane
Thank you! 🙂
Yeah, I have BIG plans for this sequel. Lol! When I originally tried to shelve this story, the thought of losing the sequel was just as devastating as losing this one.

Congrats on the incredible progress this week! Aw, I feel bad for Dolofones, suffering for three years! ^^
And yeah, it’s cold… I walk around in many layers every day. XD
krystal jane
I’ve been layering up, too.
Thank you. ^_^ I do love to torture the poor guy. ^_^
