    On Shaking Things Up

Last November, a pep talk came along from the writer of the Divergent series, Veronica Roth. You can read it here. It was about shaking things up. One thing in particular that stuck out to me was when she said, “Let go your process. Let go of stressing out about your process. Let go of finding your process. Let go of all of it.” She said some other things about stop trying to be perfect. And then she closed with this: “Don’t be a plotter or a pantser, a strict butt-in-chair person or an exercise-doer, a beginning-to-end-er or a time jumper—don’t be anything other than whatever you need to be…

#WIPMarathon Report #10 (November) & Final NaNoWriMo Update

Sits back, whilst I dazzle and amaze you. ^_^ Yeppers! I officially won a little after midnight on Monday!! *happy dancing time!* The story isn’t over yet, but according to the outline, just 13 chapters to go!! *more happy dancing* Last report wordcount + chapter count: The Raven = 2004 words, Chapter 1 Current report WC + CC: The Raven = 50,135 words, Chapter 32 Whooo NaNoWriMo!! I know NaNo isn’t over yet, but I’m not writing this weekend because I want to knock this cold out that’s been following me around all month! NaNoWriMo Update #3 (2014 Edition)

Current Word Count: 42,056 Whoo Hoo! NaNoWriMo finish line in sight! And my story’s finish line? Erm…close I hope. Lol! I have 7k words left in my outline and 18 chapters. It’s getting close to crunch time! (story-wise) And it IS crunch time NaNo-wise! Week 3 is when people start to win NaNo, and I’ve seen quite a few people cross the 50k line already. CONGRATULATIONS!! ^_^ This weekend is going to be a tad busier than normal, but there’s no reason I can’t at least get to 50k before Thanksgiving. My goal for this story is still the end of next month, though I would like to finish it…

    NaNoWriMo Update #2 (2014 Edition)

Current Word Count: 28,449 Yay! Halfway point achieved! It’s the end of week two in NaNoWriMo Land and this is when we start to lose people. Let’s have a moment to remember those who have bowed out, for whatever reason….. All right! So, clearly I am not long suffering for words. I’ve been trying to get in about 2k a day, and it looks like I’m averaging that so far. I’m trying to get to Chapter 30 in my outline by the end of the month. Again, most of these chapters are pretty short, so this is very doable considering I’m on Chapter 18 as I write this. I ran…

    NaNoWriMo Update #1 (2014 Edition)

Current Word Count: 13,409 First of all: THANK GOD FOR NANOWRIMO! Folks, I was seriously starting to think my writing mojo had gone down the drain. So, I’m doing something that I don’t really like to do – not stopping to edit. If I think of something I need to add or change, I’m still doing it, but all that going back over the opening chapters several times that I normally do, I just don’t feel like it. I just want to write right now. I think that’s okay. Lol! My strategy: one chapter a day (keeps the burnout away!) couldn’t help myself Keep in mind, I average about 2k…
