Am I A Book Addict Yet?

Earlier this month I went through my Amazon cart.

For most people, this isn’t a big ordeal. Maybe you have ten things in there. Maybe you have fifty. I had three hundred and thirty items in my cart. Yeah. 330.

For one thing, scrolling through this many items is tedious as hell. So I wouldn’t. And I’d often scroll through and see things that I’d already bought. So, one day, in true me fashion, I decided to just sit down and get as many items out of the cart as I could. My goal was 90% – which would take the cart from 330 to 33. I’m happy to report that I got it down to 41! Close. I mean, come on!

The first thing I focused on was moving as many books as possible to my Goodreads TBR. That is, after all, what Goodreads is for. Some of the books were already on there, but for the record, I moved about 60 more.

Next, I deleted all the movies. I figured I’ll just buy them when I’m ready. There’s no need to keep so many in my cart. I’ll remember to buy them if I really want them.

After that, I mass deleted anything that’s been in there for too long. If I haven’t bought a suggestion box by now, I don’t want it. I actually had a suggestion box in there. I remember shopping for lock boxes a few years ago, but I certainly don’t remember why now.

Then, I consulted with my brother (ahaha) for help on deleting a few more items. Things like a mini Instant Pot, when I literally got a mini pressure cooker (of a different brand) for free earlier this year. And a tiny sticker printer. WHEN DO YOU EVER WANT TO PRINT STICKERS, KRYSTAL, DAMN?!

There are still, obviously, several more things I could delete, but that’s pretty good, right?! Like, one of the books in there is a preorder for a book coming out in February. Obviously, I’m not preordering this early, but I really want this book as soon as it comes out, so it’s staying in my cart until then. Two other books are gifts for my niece and nephew that I’m buying later. A couple of other books are out of stock, and I don’t know what the problem is, but it’s common with this publisher for there to be a problem, so I’m stalking them until they’re back in stock.

Let’s be real, most of the cart is still books. But at least I can quickly scroll through everything now. 😀

The last thing I did to lower my cart content was to buy some of this stuff. (cough-books-cough) Which added about nine items to my cart…the main cart. And I ended up getting seven of those books from B&N because of sales and availability, but yeah.

My long term goal is to get down to ten items and never have more than ten items in the cart again. I might start a new Goodreads TBR for books on my actual TBR to separate them from books I’m thinking about adding to the TBR, because there are 470+ books on there right now, and I don’t even know how that happened. I swear I went through it earlier this year and deleted at least 40 books.

These kinds of activities are fun for my brain. ^_^

  1. 470+?!!!

Oh gosh. That makes my brain hurt. My Goodreads list hovers at 60+. I got it below 60 a few months ago because I borrowed books on my list from the library, like a responsible reader lol, but I couldn’t get past the first few chapters in one book and didn’t get past the first chapter in the other. But they’re off the list now since I cracked them open!

    • My brain hurts, too! >.< I’m so jealous! Instead of starting a separate list, I should just get my current TBR down to 100. 😀 That sounds reasonable. Haha. I can at least cut it in half. Imma do that. ^_^

  2. That’s one full cart. And list! Can you believe my Goodreads TBR usually hangs around 40? I’m one of those people who hates clutter (*cough* not counting my personal household) and constantly skims down. But it sounds like you have a TON of reading to do 😉

    • WHAT?? 40?! Omg. Ugh, I’m so bad with the digital clutter. I’m working on paring down. My goal is 250 or less by the weekend. I just need to be honest about what I’m actually likely to read. Lol!

  3. I have no items in my Amazon cart because I keep everything on a list instead. But I don’t think that’s fixing the problem, it’s just shifting it to a different place.

Thanks for sharing your book psychosis with us. It makes me feel less crazy about my own insanity. 😂

Hi! ^_^
