🙂 The editing process is officially underway for HOUSE OF FALLING EMBERS, and I have an official release date: October 1, 2018!
I can’t share a blurb yet. Blurb is not written. It’ll come with the cover though. Cover reveal to happen first of September. I normally have a blurb done by now, but I do have a plot summary of sorts in my notes somewhere.
I’m not too far into editing, but getting the ball rolling is the absolute hardest part for me. Only gets more fun from here! And I love the story so far. 😛 I’m on the parts that make me laugh now, but I cried so much while writing this. I have no idea what string I pulled in my heart chamber, but it was really unexpected. Like, I knew my characters would be upset, but I didn’t know I’d be crying, as well! It was quite fun. 😀
Anywho, I haven’t had an excerpt for a while, so I thought it’d be fun to do one today. Here’s a bit from chapter three, a snippet of a convo between main character Artemis and her boss, Fenton. ^_^
“People in the office talk about you.” Fenton says this conversationally, but curiosity peeks around the edges of his words.
The silence stretches on. Fenton continues to watch me. Finally, I say, “What do they say?”
“I hear a lot of people referring to you as ‘that girl.’”
My stomach sinks. Oh great. Memories curl around the dusty shelves in the back of my brain.
“A lot of people seem to think you’re crazy.” Fenton narrows his eyes and studies my face. “Are you?”
“Am I crazy?”
“No…” My voice wavers a little, and I twist around and look for Dolan. It shouldn’t take this long to get a box of paper, should it?
“The suburbs are often pretty quiet places, aren’t they?” Fenton says. “When something does happen, it tends to stick in people’s minds for a long time.”
I watch the door Dolan disappeared through. Please. Oh my god, what are you doing? I swallow and try to shove down the panic crawling its way into my chest. Don’t think about it…
“Lots of people talk,” he repeats.
“It was a long time ago,” I say, using up most of my energy and willpower to keep my voice even and keep myself from biting Fenton’s perfect head off.
Oh, before I run off, NO REST FOR THE WICKED and WINTER’S SIREN are once again available on Kobo and iBooks and as a Nook book, and WHISPER will be more widely available sometime in July.
Also, I watched the five hour coverage of The Royal Wedding over three days. I enjoyed it. Haha. And I especially loved that Prince Harry was teary-eyed during the ceremony. It makes me believe in love a little bit. ^_^
