Writing Moments That Drive Me Crazy

1 – Being in the middle of an exciting scene and having to go to the bathroom.

2 – Being in the middle of an exciting scene, reaching for my glass of water, and finding it empty! (Can I get a water fountain hooked up to my desk, please?)

3 – When someone’s name is Carmen and I keep typing Carment every. single. freaking. time.

4 – When I keep misspelling the same words over and over again.

5 – When I forget what happened in the previous chapter.

6- When I’m on a roll and look up and it’s 3 o’clock in the morning and I still need to clean the kitchen, fold my laundry, take a shower, go to bed before my alarm goes off at 8:00.

7 – When a gnat attacks my screen or my face as I’m typing.

8 – When my iPad dings at me to tell me that money is ready to be collected in my game. I want the game money, but OMG, can’t the thing see that I’m writing!

9 – When the cat knocks over something in the kitchen when I’m in the middle of a sentence.

10 – When I’ve planned a writing marathon and suddenly everyone I know wants to hang out with me at once.

11 – When I have 3 chapters left to write and I’m busy for three days in a row and can’t get to them!

12 – Being at work when a scene is burning a hole through my head.

13 – When that one word is on the tip of my tongue and it just won’t fall off! so I have to keep saying the sentence over and over again out loud until one of my imaginary friends tells me what it is or I give up only to remember three pages later but almost forget again by the time I scroll back up to it.

14 – When that one word is on the tip of my tongue and I have to stop everything I’m doing and type random words into dictionary.com until it comes to me.

15 – When I’m SO FREAKING excited about a scene and I talk a mile a minute trying to get it all out to someone at work before their eyes glaze over and it starts going in one ear and dissipating somewhere on their brain.

16 – When I can’t figure out how to spell a word and I’m so far off spell check can’t even figure out what I’m trying to say, so I have to stop everything and try out every single spelling I can think of until the computer gets it.

17 – When I have a great idea for a scene but forget by the time I get the chance to write it down. (Though I have a theory…if I forget it, it wasn’t meant to be.)

18 – When I run out of water AGAIN! (Dudes, I love me some aqua!)

19 – Getting hungry in the middle of a great session and having to stop and eat something before I gets a migraine and pass out.

20 – Getting tired in the middle of a great session.

And I’m sure there are so many more things that I forgot about! ^_^

  1. Oh my gosh Krystal! I can relate to ALL of these. I kid you not, there have been times where I’ve dragged my laptop in the bathroom just because I couldn’t interrupt my writing splurge with a quick tinkle. LOL. And I have done the 3 a.m. thing, the forgetting to eat thing, and so on. We writers put ourselves through so much neglect when we’re in the middle of an awesome writing sprint!

    • Don’t we! It’s like all I need is my story to sustain me. ^_^ I wish. Lol! You know, I’ve seen pictures of writing desks in the bathroom. ^_^ So I need that, a water fountain, brain pills, and a mini fridge hooked to my desk, and that would be awesome. Lol!

    • I do, too! What’s up with that? Or I spell something like chair and it just looks wrong because I’ve been staring at the computer for too long. #writerwoes Lol!

  2. Bwa-ha-ha-ha! I busted up on that first one, and kept chuckling all the way through. Whew! YES. I hear you and second every single on of those–minus the ipad thing, because that’s my flipping computer that keeps flashing little notifications in the corner of my screen. I really need to figure out how to turn that off. =) Thanks for the laugh.

    • Goodie! ^_^ Yeah I’ve been turning notifications off on the games, but I still have the non-game bells going off. o_O One day I’m just going to turn everything off. Lol!

Hi! ^_^
