Deets about the WIPMarathon can be found here!
I don’t know exactly when I’ll be starting. Could be two days from now. Could be two weeks. I have some intense scenes coming up though, and I’m going to need the energy…energy I do not have right now. So, I’m pretty much a no go on writing until my body stops trying to give me a cold and my brain gives me the green light. Or it’s December 15th. I figure if I’m not writing by then, I’m being lazy and will make myself do something. ^_^
Marathon Goal: My first goal is to finish this first draft of “Winter.” I’m expecting it to be done by the end of the year. My next goal is to start my next project while “Winter” sits and bakes. I’m prone to changing my mind constantly until the last minute, but right now it looks like I’ll be starting over with a higher concept fantasy that I started back in March or April. I have a feeling I’m going to need a small break from the scary stuff.
Stage of writing: In the middle of a first draft…well, about 2/3 through. I’m also ready to outline the first few chapters of my next project, which I’ll probably do before I get back to my draft.
What inspired my current project: Hmm, “Winter” just kind of popped out of nowhere when I was reading a blog post about popular sayings and where they come from. For some reason it gave me high school English flashbacks and the idea grew from there. The other idea: “The Queen of Diamonds” was inspired by a Temple Run game. Lol! It also popped out of nowhere. I was ducking under a tree and suddenly I had an idea, and I spent the rest of the afternoon working on it. Neither of these ideas have anything much to do the things that inspired them. Love how my brain works. ^_^
What might slow down my marathon goal: Well, right now I’m coming down with a cold. But speaking of cold, I have a tendency to half hibernate the few weeks of winter. The good news is, I always put a nice dent in my reading list, reading more than writing for a change. The bad news is, when I’m not reading, I tend to just loaf and watch TV. But I want to finish “Winter” by the end of the year! And the other idea is burning a hole through my brain stem, so I gotta make some time for them so they’ll chill out. 🙂
Best time of the day for writing: I’m a night owl. Sometimes I squeeze in a few minutes in the early morning if I can’t stand it and have to write something before work. And sometimes on my days off I’ll write in the middle of the afternoon, but usually I’m writing between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. Or until I’m tired. ^_^
I probably won’t have much going on for a while, but I’m going to try. Of course now that I’ve said this, watch me suddenly feel like working again next week. Lol! Anywho, Happy December everyone!
And congratulations to everyone who won NaNoWriMo!
